Journey
Asit's artistic journey began in childhood in Odisha, watching local artisans create clay idols, particularly the Durga Pratima. He would observe their process and recreate it at home, supported by his family despite the absence of formal art classes.
He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Government College of Art and Crafts, Khallikote, Orissa, before earning his Master of Fine Arts at Banaras Hindu University, where he received a gold medal. Banaras inspired him deeply during his studies.
After graduation, he worked as an educator while developing his artistic practice. In 2000, he moved to Delhi to focus more fully on his professional work.
His first solo show at the India Habitat Center in 2003 became a turning point, leading him to leave teaching and commit entirely to his career as an artist.

Style
Asit is a semi-realistic figurative painter whose work explores the human psyche and the interpersonal relationships that shape society. His paintings carry a certain sensitivity, accentuated by his technique and choice of colors and textures.
He captures complex emotions through semi-clad male and female figures depicted in varied, open-ended postures. The deceptive simplicity of his lines adds to the sensuality of the robust figures, creating a balance between strength and vulnerability.
Often in his paintings, women's hair is adorned with red, symbolizing energy, strength, and passion. This choice highlights the positive energy of women and the natural attraction that brings people together.
There is a sense of mystery as well as visual harmony in his compositions. His work invites viewers to contemplate the unspoken dynamics between people and the emotions that connect or separate them.
