Deepak Das
is a fine artist whose work explores the universality of human emotions as people navigate daily life: urbanites in cities, sellers in small-town markets, or Adivasis celebrating harvest. He trained for twelve years in the traditional Bengali style at an art school in Jamshedpur, with roots tracing back to Nandalal Bose.
He won a national art contest for world peace organized by the YWCA as a teenager and received the award from Mother Teresa. He holds a degree in engineering from BITS Pilani and a PhD, and currently works as an engineer while maintaining an active art practice.
His work blends traditional training with mixed-media explorations across a range of themes.

Journey
Deepak began drawing on the walls of his home in Jamshedpur as a child. His parents enrolled him in a local art school, where he trained for twelve years under a teacher rooted in the traditional Bengali style.
He started with imaginative drawings and progressed to formal still lifes, landscapes, and portraits. Growing up, he was fascinated by Western masters like Rembrandt, leading his style to become a blend of Western techniques and traditional Indian roots.
He had his first art show at age twelve. Despite pursuing engineering at BITS Pilani, completing a PhD, and moving to the United States, he remained connected to his artistic practice.

Style
Deepak's work finds inspiration in the human condition, exploring universal emotions through scenes of daily life. He depicts urbanites navigating complex cities, sellers in small-town markets, and Adivasis celebrating harvest.
His style evolved from early training in traditional techniques and mediums to mixed-media explorations. The blend of Western influences like Rembrandt with traditional Bengali foundations creates work that bridges cultural and technical traditions.
