California | Fine Artist & Educator

Journey

Sheetal's journey with art began when she started training at Lalit Kala Akademi, a fine arts school in New Delhi. Though she never imagined becoming a professional artist or teacher, her fine art background stayed with her as she pursued interior design and graduated with a major in textile design.

After moving to the United States, she began exploring different mediums, combining her training in watercolors and charcoal with new techniques. Teaching came naturally when her daughter and friends wanted to learn art, leading her into the field of art education.

For over 20 years, she has been an experienced art specialist in the primary and secondary education industry, skilled in planning paint nights and team building events for nonprofit organizations, companies, school districts, and educational foundations. She currently teaches at Saratoga Elementary School and Foothill Elementary School.

She is also a teaching artist at Youth in Technology Incubator (YTI), a Santa Clara County program for Asian American Community Involvement, offering free tech, media, and arts workshops to youth ages 12-24.

She has exhibited in solo and group shows across the Bay Area since 1998, including at Triton Museum, India Community Center, Silicon Valley Open Studios, Los Altos Arts and Crafts Fair, and Chamber of Commerce Santa Clara.

Style

Sheetal's inspiration is driven by things around her, particularly nature. As a passionate gardener, her work almost always includes elements of florals, leaves, or natural forms intertwined with her compositions.

Community building also inspires her deeply. She works extensively with children, including those with special needs, and this commitment to community drives much of her creative practice.

Her style draws from her training across fine arts, textile design, and interior design, working in mediums including watercolors, charcoal, mixed media, sculpture, silk painting, and acrylics. Many of her custom art pieces hang in homes of art lovers across the Bay Area. She has even illustrated a children's book.
