Journey

Born into a family of filmmakers, Thejo was surrounded by cinema long before she chose the canvas.

As a child, she grew up watching art directors walk into her home with sketches and stories, and she often visited film sets where colour, light and design came alive in dramatic form. That early exposure to vibrant set design left a lasting imprint on her visual language and shaped her instinctive relationship with colour.

Her Kerala roots also influenced her sensibilities, deepened by the state's lush landscapes and rich cultural traditions.

Style

Thejomaye's work is vibrant, energetic, and contemplative, shaped by her temperament and her Kerala heritage.

Kerala's green landscapes, the rhythm of rural life, and the charged intensity of Theyyam performances all find their way into her abstractions, translated into forms that are both instinctive and thoughtful.

While she draws from cultural memory and performing arts, she's equally interested in human relationships and emotions, using metaphor to explore complex inner states.
