The Artist
Puneet Kaushik is a New Delhi–based multidisciplinary South Asian artist whose practice spans installation art, textile-based works, design, and community-led collaborations, integrating folk and tribal traditions with contemporary visual language.
He has curated artwork for the Central Vista Project, the New Parliament, and the Vice President of India's residence, and serves as a director on the board of Dastkar, an NGO supporting craftsmen and artisans across India. His work is held in collections worldwide, including the NGMA, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, and the MAO Museum in Turin.

The Inspiration
One Home emerges from Puneet’s lived experience of displacement, belonging, and the search for identity. Having studied in San Francisco and returned to Delhi, he often felt the tension of living between two worlds: one shaping him, the other grounding him.
The sari reflects this duality. The merged skylines of Delhi and San Francisco represent a dialogue between cultures, geographies, and times. The choice of white signifies the enduring spirit, reminding people that the essence of home transcends physical space; it exists in memory and in the heart.
The piece is a meditation on diaspora, on the invisible threads that link people to places, and on the emotional weight of carrying home wherever one goes.

From Sari to Art
Puneet has worked on the Sanjhi art, a paper cutting technique with scissors of Mathura to create intricate skyline motifs, merging two cities into a single, wearable narrative.
Silk is unforgiving; once pierced, it cannot be corrected. Puneet had to balance spontaneity with meticulous planning, allowing the medium to guide some decisions while imposing discipline on others.
Through collaboration with master artisans, Puneet ensured that every thread, every texture, carried intention, creating a sari that is as much about shared human experience as it is about individual expression.

Message for the World
This sari wants the wearer to inhabit a sense of universal belonging and carry a piece of home no matter where they are in the world.
